About
Ally Messer is an interdisciplinary artist and maker currently located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Messer attended the University of Nevada, Reno and graduated in 2019 with a BFA in printmaking. She has prioritized accessibility to printmaking in her hometown by co-founding Laika Press, a cooperative, community-based printing press, in 2017. Messer is currently pursuing an MFA in Fibers and Material Studies at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture.
Dedicated to storytelling, Messer's work often takes the form of books, zines, animation, puppetry, and installation. Messer's current body of work explores instances of care and reciprocity in communities of species not our own; with the hope that we, humans, may learn from the entangled world how to better take care of and support one another within our own communities.
