About

Ally Messer is an interdisciplinary artist and maker currently located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Messer attended the University of Nevada, Reno and graduated in 2019 with her BFA in printmaking. She has prioritized accessibility to printmaking in her hometown by co-founding Laika Press, a cooperative, community-based printing press, in 2017. Messer is currently pursuing her MFA in Fibers and Material Studies at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture.

Messer's work often takes the form of soft-sculpture, installation, books, prints, and collage. The fruit and vegetable beings central to Messer's work create avenues to address concepts surrounding the history of women’s craft, community, and queer identity.
